Organ Gala at Liverpool Cathedral

Yet another sensational night at Liverpool Cathedral where three Makin organs (a 4-manual custom, a 3-manual Windermere and a continuo organ) where used alongside the mighty Willis pipe organ, two continuo organs by David Wells Organ Builders and a small Collins 2 manual instrument. In total, there were seven organs, seven organists and seventeen manuals!

Music for the organ gala was provided by the home team of organists and special guest Richard Lea. The event was held in aid of the Cathedral Choir tour to Malta in February 2019 with a total of over £2,000 being raised.

The very varied programme, featured music from Bach, Elgar, Gigout, Langlais, Peeters and Walton with Liverpool favourites from Rawsthorne and Yon.

Much fun was had by all with decibels galore!
